Allows people with no local UseNet access (e.g., people from Bulgaria) to post to soc.culture.bulgaria UseNet newsgroup through their WWW browser. Has an archive of Bulgarian music and pictures. The page is on a machine in the Rockefeller University in the city of New York and is maintained by Penio Penev.

Has FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) file about Bulgaria. An archive of soc.culture.bulgaria as well as Drago's list of top postings to soc.culture.bulgaria are available. The page includes a list of personal WWW pages of Bulgarians on the net. (A local mirror copy of the list is maintained by Pavlin Radoslavov at Tokyo Institute of Technology, although it might be out of date.)

ftp Servers

An ftp site with Bulgaria-related info: It uses a server in Columbia University in the city of New York and is maintained by Dragomir Radev
A largely Bulgaria-related ftp archive: It is maintained on Magdanoz.mcafee.com. Both login and password are vestnik. You might want to access the archive from another window (for some reason, WWW browsers do not give a proper list of files in the directories on that server).

telnet Sessions

A telnet session to Magdanoz: The login is vestnik. Has a menu interface. Information is partly in Bulgarian, partly in English. Many Bulgarians get together there to chat with each other (use Ctrl/T to get into conference mode).
A telnet session to tune.: After log-in use /help to see the list of available commands.

UseNet Newsgroups

Note: in most cases you have to rely on your own newserver for those.

soc.culture.bulgaria: A discussion newsgroup related to Bulgaria. If you do not have a local UseNet news server (esp., if you are in Bulgaria) you can still access and post to soc.culture.bulgaria UseNet newsgroup through the WWW-to-NNTP gateway provided by Penio Penev. You can also post to soc.culture.bulgaria by sending by E-mail your message for soc.culture.bulgaria to soc-culture-bulgaria@cs.utexas.edu. An archive of soc.culture.bulgaria is available for browsing on WWW thanks to the work done by Dragomir Radev.
bit.listserv.e-europe: A USENET version of materials distributed by the Eastern European Business Network moderated mailing list server. You can subscribe to this list by sending mail to listserv@pucc.bitnet or listserv@pucc.princeton.edu (in the body of the mail message write: sub e-europe < your name >).
bit.listserv.euearn-l: A USENET version of materials distributed by another Eastern European mailing list server (mostly posts from Eastern Europe).
misc.news.east-europe.rferl: RFE/RL Reports from your local news-server. Typically, each daily report includes 1-2 short articles about Bulgaria. Should change in 1995.
clari.world.europe.balkans: If you are lucky, your local news-server would carry ClariNet groups. Besides Reuter and AP news from Bulgaria this group covers Romania and former Yugoslavia.
clari.world.europe.union: Hopefully, Bulgaria will be appearing more and more frequently along with the European Union as it tries to join the 15 member nations together with 5 more countries of Central and Eastern Europe. As with the previous group, you have to be lucky enough to have your local news-server carry ClariNet groups.
